Prepare To Teach Lessons
Prepare for Tier 3 Intervention
1. Get to know the tier 3 intervention cycle.
- Watch the Tier 2 Intervention Cycle support video to preview the original 8-day intervention cycle.
- Tier 3 intervention resources do not include the re-engagement session.
- Tier 3 intervention provides extended time during each stage of the C-R-A instructional sequence.
- Read the sample teacher prompts that can be heard throughout each session.
- Read the observation checklist that can be seen throughout each session.
- Scan the Tier 3 support guide that provides the instructional plan for each session.
2. Print the Teacher Packet for the standard from the Tier 3 Intervention tab.
- Identify the learning target and success criteria.
3. Become confident with the Concrete-Representational-Abstract instructional sequence (C-R-A).
- Explore Session 1 (Build), 3 (Draw) and 6 (Write).
- Watch the modeling video.
- Read the suggested script, teacher notes, and visual support that supports productive math talk.
- Practice a think-aloud for at least two Guided Practice problems.
- Anticipate questions students might ask.
4. Review the Concrete-Representational-Abstract instructional sequence (C-R-A).
- Open the appropriate document on the Delta Math Progressions web page and find the summary for the readiness standard.
- Preview the C-R-A instructional sequence for the standard that appears before and after the standard you are planning to teach to ensure a consistent use of manipulatives, drawings, and language.
5. Print the Student Packet and gather manipulatives that may include mats, modeling and guided practice cards, or other types of tools included in the Teacher Packet.
